The legendary STEG K-series amplifiers are back! All made in Italy, they're as good as they always have been. Competition level stuff, as solid as ever. Super advanced monitoring options, audiophile crossover modules for the OCD type people. Fantastic value for money if you value uncompromised SQ.

This is the smallest of the bunch, but only in size. This 2-channel fighter can push 2 channels of pure 365W AB-class power at 1 Ohm stable (yes, 1 Ohm) load or a single bridged 700W channel at 2 Ohm load. It can even be strapped with a 2nd one in serial power mode for a single 1460W RMS channel at 4 Ohm load. Comes with all bells and whistles of the K-series amplifiers - inaudible active cooling, AQXM2 crossover modules, remote PC management, internal ground lift noise suppression systems, regulated power supply and so on.

Manufacturer provided specs:

  • Power supply voltage range: 10-16V DC (regulated)
  • Output power RMS @ 4 Ohm, 10-16V: 105W x 2 @0.03% THD or 115W x 2 at 1% THD
  • Output power RMS @ 2 Ohm, 10-16V: 205W x 2 @0.03% THD
  • Output power RMS @ 1 Ohm, 10-16V: 365W x 2 @0.03% THD
  • Output power RMS @ 4 Ohm bridged, 10-16V: 410W x 1 @0.03% THD
  • Output power RMS @ 2 Ohm bridged, 10-16V: 700W x 1 @0.03% THD
  • Output power RMS @ 4 Ohm SERIALPOWER, 10-16V: 1460W x 1 @0.03% THD
  • DIM @ 90% nom. power 10 - 22 000Hz: 0.003% @ 4 Ohm
  • S/N ratio A-weighted @ 90% nom. power 10 - 22 000Hz: 107dB
  • Damping factor: >1000
  • Frequency response -3dB tolerance: 5 - 170 000 Hz

  • Power on options: 12V remote
  • Crossover options: internal HP/LP up to 24dB/oct or external AXQM2 modules
  • Internal low pass filter options: 50Hz-250Hz @ 12dB/Oct (24dB/oct in Mono mode)
  • Internal high pass filter options: 50Hz-250Hz with selectable Q-factor 0.7-1.2
  • External fuse required: 60A
  • Dimensions: 250x232x56 mm

Our own power measurements:

The graph below shows our measurements of Power vs Total Harmonic Distortion + Noise (THD+N). The X (horizontal) axis shows power in Watts, while the Y (vertical) axis shows the THD+N in Percent:

STEG K2.01 1kHz sine power plot

Output power RMS at the best THD+N to power ratio (the knee of the graph):
  • 2x 110W at 0.035% THD+N on 4 Ohm
  • 2x 165W at 0.042% THD+N on 2 Ohm
  • 2x 240W at 0.05% THD+N on 1 Ohm (!!!)
  • 1x 380W at 0.65% THD+N on 4 Ohm bridged
  • 1x 475W at 0.046% THD+N on 2 Ohm bridged
Output power RMS at 1% THD+N (industry standard):
  • 2x 130W on 4 Ohm
  • 2x 200W on 2 Ohm
  • 2x 290W on 1 Ohm
  • 1x 446W on 4 Ohm bridged
  • 1x675W on 2 Ohm bridged
Max output power RMS at 10% THD+N:

These are largely irrelevant sound wise, but good for comparison to what some other manufacturers list as power numbers.

  • 2x 180W on 4 Ohm
  • 2x 320W on 2 Ohm
  • 2x 363W on 1 Ohm
  • 1x 705W on 4 Ohm bridged
  • 1x 930W on 2 Ohm bridged

All results remain the same regardless on the input power between 10 Vdc and 16 Vdc as per the original specifications. It's amazing to see the regulated power input work this linearly at such aggressive loads! The K-series are pretty amazing amplifiers!

All measurements performed with all channels loaded on resistive load at 14.4 Vdc power input, measured via JL Audio MAX calibrated in REW software. These are not absolute - we do them for our own verification of performance and for comparison to other amplifiers we test. The results may not be directly comparable to other testing methodologies on the Internet.
